Rauchbodenweg Trail
General Information
The Easy Way to Hike
Think of the Gesäuse and difficult climbing routes spring to mind? Forget about them, because you can also go for a pleasant walk without having to renounce the ‘Gesäuse feeling’. Let’s take Rauchbodenweg Trail as an example, which takes you along the roaring river Enns from Weidendom Visitor Centre to the National Park Pavilion in Gstatterboden. Also accessible by bike and with Swiss-Tracs.
One of the best things in the Gesäuse is that there’s something for everyone according to their level of fitness. Rauchbodenweg Trail is perfect for beginners and families. This four-kilometre walk takes you along the river Enns through the National Park, from Weidendom Visitor Centre to the National Park Pavilion to be exact. And in case your feet get carried away, you can simply add a few other theme trails to the excursion, like the ‘Wild John’ theme trail for example.
Splendid views
What makes Rauchbodenweg Trail so special is the combination of easy hiking terrain and splendid views. At your feet is the Enns River, relentlessly splashing down its river bed, while above your head you will find the legendary rocks of the Gesäuse - Haindlkar Peak, the Peternpfad Trail and the Hochtor Mountains all say hello. All this is packed into a total walking time of only one hour. For speed enthusiasts: Rauchboden Trail is also accessible by bike.
