General Information
The route describes the access to the climbing route! An alpine climbing route, which can be looked up in detail in the climbing guide "Xeis Auslese" by Andreas Hollinger and Jürgen Reinmüller!
1B Großer Ödstein, Festkogel, Rinnerstein
From Johnsbach via the Hesshütten- and Schneelochweg (see access 1A,
p. 35) to the rocky steep step. From the turnoff to Kleiner Ödstein continue
straight ahead and cross to the right in a meadow. Across the meadow a bit
right-hand side up. A little bit hidden (Steinmann) turn left and
through mountain pine alleys to the scree field under the Festkogel porch.
1" To the Rinnerstein routes on the right via Gamssteige the relatively steep
cross meadow and scree slopes.
2" To the southeast wall of Gr. Ödstein left out of the scree field over compact
Plates (2-3) - partly threaded SU's - and in light terrain straight up.
3" To the routes on the Festkogel further up the scree field via climbing tracks
to the stem. This is best done on the right, by means of a loop, in
easy climbing immediately to the left of the gorge (1-2) or over the
climbed the beautiful routes that have been set up.
Walking time Festkogelvorbau and Rinnerstein 1½ up to 2 hours, Festkogel
and Gr. Ödstein 2 to 2½ hours.

From the summit on the ridge descend in northeastern direction and later keep right
Eastwards in easy climbing past the snow cart tower into the snow hole.
To the south on the marked snow hole path (path to the Hochtor) to
Koderboden and back to Johnsbach.
