General Information
Year after year, millions of people visit our national parks, nature parks, museums and cultural-historical sites. But what does that trigger in them? How does a tree, a monument, or an exhibit become meaningful to people?
On behalf of the U.S. National Park Service, Freeman Tilden traveled to numerous parks and museums throughout the United States to find answers to this question. He summarized his experiences in his 1957 book Interpreting Our Heritage. To this day, it is regarded worldwide as indispensable introductory literature when it comes to the question of how visitors' encounters with their natural and cultural heritage can give rise to connections that lead to an attitude of appreciation.
The book that gave structure to the concept of natural and cultural interpretation is now available in German for the first time.
Published by Thorsten Ludwig.
