The Common Sandpiper (Actitis hypoleucos) is a small wading bird found on the banks of bodies of water. Its plumage is mottled gray-brown on the upper side and pure white on the belly. Characteristic is the constant bobbing with the rump and the call "hidididi". Its diet consists of insects, spiders and crustaceans, which it captures by poking with its long bill on the banks and in the water.
