Forschungsband Nr. 16: (Un-)Ordnung in der Natur
General Information
PART I
Do we expose ourselves to uncontrollable danger when we stop controlling the landscape around us? Or do we ensure our own survival if we change our perspective and perceive ourselves as part of nature? The high dynamics are the basis of the diverse life in the untouched landscape. Debris flows, avalanches, storms, floods and fire contribute to high biodiversity and can be seen as catalysts for valuable natural areas. Examples from the Gesäuse National Park and comparable lenbs spaces illuminate dise significant, dynamic processes in the wilderness.
PART II
In 2017, the 12th GEO Biodiversity Day took a close look at the highest of the Gesäuse mountains - the Hochtor - and its immediate surroundings. Former alpine pastures, the alpine vegetation and the 800m2 large Planspitzsee was recorded by the researchers. The weather luck, the interdisciplinary research exchange and the numerous zoological and botanical features are vividly documented
