ZERO Waste Dekorationsworkshop Retter BioGut
General Information
Decoration can also be sustainable. This ZERO Waste course is for everyone who wants to live more sustainably and showcase it in their home. Michaela, our florist, will give you tips and show you many ideas for a pretty new decoration using natural materials and help you create them. You are also welcome to bring old containers and decorative materials that you would like to repurpose. Materials will be provided.
The Retter Bio-Nature Resort has been a partner of ZERO Waste Austria since 2019. ZERO Waste is a philosophy that strives for sustainability and aims to live a life that produces as little waste as possible to conserve resources. As an organic hotel, it is an important point in the family Retter's corporate philosophy to handle food, raw materials, and resources sparingly. At the Retter Bio-Nature Resort, there is the ZERO Waste decoration course, a "making natural fertilizer from food scraps" workshop, and much more.
“We focus on Zero Waste”
The Hotel Retter in Pöllauberg is located in the middle of the Pöllauer Tal Nature Park and holds not only the environmental seal but also numerous other awards, such as the Trigos Award or the Green Globe. “I learn something new with each certification,” says Ulli Retter, the co-manager of the hotel. Thus, the Retter team partially uses rainwater and focuses on ZERO Waste, striving to produce no waste: “We grow mushrooms on organic coffee grounds. We do not use herbicides like glyphosate or artificial fertilizers. The beeswax wraps keep organic bread fresh, and our ZERO Waste courses for vacation guests help them think about this topic at home as well.”
Retter BioGut with Bakery:
New at the eco-label hotel Retter is the BioGut, which has been open to visitors since the end of August 2018, among other things as part of guided tours: housed in the energy-optimized building are the distillery, herb shop, and ice cream shop. Juices and spirits from organic fruits from the surrounding orchards of the Retters are produced, among others. A large part of the delicacies is served to guests at the hotel.
Do good and talk about it! Should one talk about all the good things they do? A clear yes comes from Ulli Retter: “We focus on education. We want to pass on knowledge to our guests that we have acquired over the years.” This includes many details and ideas that come with many certifications and of course the own active attitude. Choose from the ZERO Waste courses at Retter BioGut.
