"Tischlein deck dich"
An offer from the Culinary Capital Graz in collaboration with the Joanneum Universal Museum
On the culinary journey in the museum, you embark on an appetite-stimulating course through history.
On Friday, 9 January 2026, the event “Table Set for You – Culinary Journey at the Museum of History” takes place at the Universalmuseum Joanneum (Sackstraße 16, 8010 Graz). Visitors are invited to join a special culinary exploration in the heart of Graz, Styria. The afternoon starts at 4:00 pm with a guided tour of around 45 minutes through the impressive “Food and Drink” exhibition space. Using historical objects such as goblets, glasses and plates, the event asks: How much history can one meal hold? Participants explore medieval eating habits, the wine‑growing tradition in Styria and the origins of coffee and cocoa. At around 5:00 pm the group moves to the nearby restaurant Mohrenwirt where the table is then truly set – a three‑course menu awaits (drinks not included). The programme ends at approximately 6:15 pm. This combination of museum setting, culinary delights and urban atmosphere makes for a special moment in the Graz Region. Participation costs € 55 for adults and € 31 for children up to 14 years (excluding drinks). Please register at least two days before the date via the Tourism Information Graz (Herrengasse 16, 8010 Graz). Note: This event is part of the culinary offerings of the Graz Region in cooperation with the Universalmuseum Joanneum – perfect for anyone wishing to combine culture and gastronomy in Graz.
