About the region

What guests can look forward to

The warm water of the 40-hectare lake is not only good for swimming, but also for surfing and sailing.

Lake Stubenberg offers the smallest guests numerous play areas, a sandy beach with a lighthouse and a beached pirate ship. Bigger ones will find the beach volleyball court or the diving rock on the eastern beach. An electric ship makes its rounds from May to October. Only 1 km away are the Garden Castle and the Herberstein Animal World, other first-rate attractions that are also on the Weinland Steiermark bike tour, like Lake Stubenberg.

The castle of Schielleiten houses the Federal Sports and Leisure Center with its indoor and outdoor sports facilities. Unique are also the castle coachman, who offers his tours between the castles and the largest balloon company in Austria. Newly designed is the main square with ApfelLand confectionery, Kirchenwirt and the Dorfgreißlerei. Herberstein Castle, built from Gothic to Renaissance, Schielleiten Castle, Neuhaus Castle and the ruins of Alt-Schielleiten Castle form the center of the Castle Road. 30 wooden sculptures along the 3 km long walking path around the lake, from the baroque St. Nicholas church to the Roman tomb, are a must to be visited.
