The Schauspielhaus Graz is one of the most important stages in Austria. The house was opened in 1825 and has been shaping the Graz theater landscape for almost two centuries. Each season brings more than 20 productions to the stage: from classics to contemporary pieces and bold world premieres. Readings, music formats, and discussions are also regularly on the program.
From September to June, the house is operated as a permanent ensemble theater. Three stages – the main stage, the console, and the smaller showcase room – provide space for grand productions as well as for experiments and new forms. The Schauspielhaus is thus not only a place of art but also of exchange and encounter.
Behind the classicist facade lies a modern theater operation that connects tradition with the present. Here, evenings are created that touch, surprise, or simply remain in memory – theater in its most vibrant form.
