Guided hike: High-altitude tour from Gamsgraben to the Hochalm

This high-altitude tour is sure to be a highlight in the hiking region of Graz. Along the North-South long-distance hiking trail 05, it leads into a beautiful and often solitary alpine region.

The ascent takes us past the former alpine inn along forest roads and quiet woodland paths up to the high alpine area. Solitary trails accompany us to the Hochalm hut, where a rustic café and a unique view of the surrounding mountains await us. Those who still have "a desire for more" upon arrival at the Hochalm hut can climb the summit of the Wetterkogel (1643 m). After a cozy break, we return to the valley via the familiar path.

Meeting point: 07:30 AM at Frohleiten train station

Trail length: 15 km | Ascent 880 m | Walking time approx. 6:00 hrs

Duration of the hike until around 4:00 PM with a planned stop at the Hochalm hut, followed by a joint return transfer with a shared taxi to Frohnleiten train station (included)

Arrival by public transport: by S-Bahn S1 Graz – Frohnleiten, transfer with shared taxi to the Roßstall/Gamsgraben parking lot and back (included), return trip from Frohnleiten individually

Level of difficulty: Due to the length of the tour, endurance is required, with no special difficulties, condition for 900 meters of elevation (!) and 6 hours of walking time.

Equipment: Good footwear (hiking boots) required, hiking clothing (layering principle), rain and sun protection, backpack, possibly hiking poles, drink, snack, café options during the hike

Cost: € 15.00 per person, payable on site to the guide 
Service: guided hike with certified mountain guides, transfer Frohnleiten - Gamsgraben and back

The guided hike is conducted by the Graz Region Tourism Association in collaboration with hiking guides. Please note that last-minute changes may be possible. Participation is at your own risk.
For safety and organizational reasons, bringing dogs is not allowed!
