Waterway on the Laurentiberg, Waisenegg
Accessible by public transportCharacteristics
SkillThe tour in numbers
The waterway is named after the two healing fountains “Gallbrunnen” near the Gallbrunner inn and the “Heilbrunnen” near the Heilbrunnkapelle chapel on Laurentiberg, just before the church of the same name.
The Laurenti church was built between 1499 and 1505 in the Gothic style. The small chapel by the Heilbrunnen was first mentioned in 1841.
If you want to visit the church, you can pick up the key from the Höller vulgo Martin farm in Lehen as you walk past and return it on the way back.
The path also takes you past the Schirner smokehouse, which was inhabited until 1977. Peter Rossegger also made a movie here.

- We start at the Gallbrunner inn, cross the country road, walk slightly downhill on the forest road and continue on the forest path
- We briefly swap the path for a gravel road before joining the Mariazellerweg on the forest and meadow path at Reichenbacher
- We continue along the gravel road and later asphalt road and branch off over the bridge a few minutes before the Hammerlschmied inn, thus leaving the Mariazellerweg trail
- We hike uphill into the forest, when we reach the road (the hiking trail has been changed) we turn left, after 200m we turn right along the road and then pass the Lehenbauern farm.
- We continue along the road to the Heilbrunnen fountain and the Laurentikirche church
- From the church, the road continues uphill, we come to a clearing and climb the steep section to Pirbacherhöhe via a dirt track.
- On this hill, the Feistritz valley lies at our feet and we can recover from the steep climb on the panoramic bench.
- A wonderful forest path, at first slightly uphill, later flat, leads us over the hill before going downhill again to the Rauchstubenhaus Schirner
- There is also the opportunity to visit the old house
