To the Teichalm from the Nechnitz
Accessible by public transportCharacteristics
SkillThe tour in numbers
The path begins on the Nechnitz high plateau and leads over the beautiful Hubenhalt to the Teichalm. The lovely Nechnitz is particularly impressive with its location between Roter Wand and Schöckl. At the Teichalm, the Teichalmsee awaits you with all its possibilities - from a boat tour on the lake to a walk around or a rest by the water. A walk through the Teichalmmoor is also worthwhile. The path through the moor takes about 20 minutes, is easy to walk on the newly designed wooden plank path and ends at the "Wooden Oxen" on the lake.
The way back then leads past the Gerlerkreuz and the district of Hintereben with its farms and the Nechnitz.
This hike from the Nechnitz can also be easily combined with the wooden sculpture trail. It is best to start with the trail straight away, go up to the Gschaid-Nock and from there go towards Teichalm (path no. 2 & 740).

More information
- We start at the pink wayside shrine on the country road, the entrance to path no. 740 is just across the street.
- Over the Hausebner Berg, along the Hubenhalt and past the Wildkogel it goes out to the Gerlerkogel.
- At the crossroads we keep left and follow path no. 740 further to Teichalm. If you want, you can take a detour to the “Gerlerkogelhütte” and go a short distance to the right.
- The path ends at the parking lot directly opposite the Teichalmsee.
- The way back begins there again with the entry into path no. 740, we keep left (path no. 42) and follow the signs to the “Gerlerkreuz” and “Angerwirt”.
- At the "Gerlerkogel" we continue straight ahead (path no. 756) to the "Ecktoni", an old crossroads directly on Teichalmstraße.
- The further path no. 756 leads a bit parallel to Teichalmstrasse, then we turn right over to "Landhaus Kurzen", shortly before the holiday home we change to path no. 9 and walk past the back of the house.
- We go over the Wild and Greitbauer farms and always in the direction of “Nechnitz” down to the country road.
- We turn right up and walk up the country road, past the GH Haider and Frankenhof to the starting point.
On the Nechnitz, the farmer, innkeeper and wood carver Erich Haider-Harrer designed the “wooden sculpture path” up to the Gschaid-Nock, which is well worth seeing.
