This HWW hiking route is part of the Wechselland Historical Long-Distance Hiking Trail (HWW), which tells the story of Wechselland along more than 100 HWW stations. More information can be found at www.wechsel-wandern.at.

This HWW hiking route leads from Pinggau via Haideggendorf to Schäffernsteg and via Dirnegg back to Pinggau. At the HWW station Pinggau/Bahnhof is the monument shown here, which commemorates a traffic accident in 1921. You can find out the story behind this incident there.

Directions - By car

Take the A2 highway to the Pinggau exit.
Take the 3rd exit at the traffic circle.
Continue along the B63.
At the junction, turn onto the B54 in the direction of Graz/Hartberg.
Then turn right in the direction of Marktgemeinde Pinggau.

The tour is not signposted throughout. Route guidance with app recommended.

We recommend a visit to the Maria Hasel pilgrimage church in Pinggau or a refreshing dip in the local swimming lake.

For local transportation we recommend the SAM-Sammeltaxi Oststeiermark.

There are parking spaces around the Pinggau municipal office.
