Smoke house Schirner
Birkfeld
The Schirner Rauchstubenhaus was inhabited by the Grabenbauer family until 1977. Afterwards, in November 1993, the Styrian Homeland Security Service awarded it the Geramb symbol of thanks in recognition of the exemplary revitalization by the "Laurentikomitee".
The approximately 300-year-old smokehouse was discovered by the MR film company for a Rosegger series in the early 1980s. In 1982 and 1983, the Schirnerhaus was chosen as a filming location for Peter Rosegger's stories "When I Was Still a Forest Farmer Boy." The mentioned film series made the Schirnerhof known far beyond its borders.
In addition to farming tools, documents, and pictures, you can also enjoy original farm dishes.
