Traditionally, the first Saturday in June marks the start of the summer retreat for hundreds of horses on the Sommeralm!

The "summer retreat" for the horses starts on the first weekend in June with the traditional "Let out the horse" on the Sommeralm, on the Plankogel and at the windmill. Every year there is a power struggle between the horses, who reclaim their pasture here. Noriker horses meet agile Haflingers, the strongest among the horses immediately figure out who the new "boss" is on the alp.

A spectacle worth seeing, not only for horse lovers. There is also a cozy Almfest with lots of culinary delights, regional products and of course a wonderful 360-degree view far beyond the Almenland Nature Park.

The horses are released to the pastures around 10.00 am.
