This stage of the Enns Cycle Path takes us from Admont, at the entrance to the Gesäuse and world-famous for its abbey library, through the Gesäuse National Park to Weyer in Upper Austria with its beautiful market square.
In Weng im Gesäuse, we are right at the entrance to the Gesäuse. It's incredible: over a length of around one kilometre, the Enns plunges over a 50-metre waterfall and then forces its way through the narrow gorges between the Buchstein and Hochtor groups for 20 kilometres with a mighty roar (the name Getöse = Gesäuse means roar). Our tour then continues via Hieflau and Großreifling, past the Eisenwurzen water park to St. Gallen with its Gallenstein Castle and on to Altenmarkt. Gallenstein Castle, formerly the administrative seat of Admont Abbey, is now a well-known event venue thanks to extensive renovation work. Among other things, the famous festival takes place here every year. But it's also worth a detour at other times: the castle tavern attracts visitors with its delicious delicacies. From Altenmarkt, the route then continues across the Styrian-Upper Austrian border to the village of Weyer.

Stage 4 of the Enns Cycle Path R7 – long-distance cycle path from Flachau/Salzburg to Steyr/Upper Austria – along Austria's longest inland river, which then flows into the Danube.

Coming from Liezen, we turn left in Admont towards the centre – in the town centre, we then turn right towards Eichelau – the cycle path takes us to just before Weng. Here you now have a choice: either you cycle through the scenically impressive Gesäuse National Park with excursion possibilities to Johnsbach or Eisenerz, but you have to expect quite heavy traffic here from Hieflau onwards. In Großreifling, we turn left and cross the Buchauer Sattel pass to reach the beautiful village of St. Gallen. At Altenmarkt, a few kilometres after St. Gallen, we rejoin the route that leads from Großreifling via the Eisen federal highway. The route continues at a leisurely pace along the main road through the beautiful landscape of the Reichraming Hintergebirge mountains to Weyer. Alternatively, you can opt for a little more adventure: the three-kilometre stretch is traffic-free and particularly scenic, but also quite strenuous. To cycling Enns Cycle Path – Day 4 Stage 3 to Reichraming. However, this means you will miss Weyer and the well-developed cycle route from Weyer to Reichraming. A difficult decision... Please note: the route through the Reichraming Hintergebirge mountains is only open to cyclists from mid-April to the end of October. The route to Weyer is 16 kilometres long and runs along the busy but wide main road.
