In the heart of Fürstenfeld stands a special building that captivates visitors with its history and loving details: the Zügnerhaus.
The ownership history of the house can be traced back to 1713 – the origin, however, is likely even further back. In the 18th and 19th centuries, the house served as a residence and workplace for shoemakers and bakers.
Historical milestones: 1874: Acquisition by shoemaker Franz Zügner and his wife Josepha Still commonly known today as: “Zügnerhaus” Characteristic: exposed wooden beam ceiling inside Restored entrance door from the 18th century.
Today, the Zügnerhaus houses the municipal library and together with the town hall forms a striking ensemble in Augustinerplatz.

In 1970, it was purchased by the municipality of Fürstenfeld. Inside the building, there is a beautiful wooden beam ceiling that was uncovered and restored during the renovation work. The entrance door, dating from the 18th century, was also restored to its original condition. Furthermore, the house features a very nice vaulted cellar. The entire renovation, which was completed in 1999, was carried out according to the principles of monument protection. Today, the City Library is housed inside. The Zügnerhaus and the town hall are prominent elements of the Augustinerplatz.
