Exhibition: Structure and Texture – Stone Sculptures in Kapfenstein
Artworks by Edith Kramer and Elisabeth Saurugg, watercolors - oil paintings - ceramics
At the end of the exhibition season, there is a special highlight: post mortem, we will showcase the works of the Austrian artist Edith Kramer. She was born in Vienna in 1916 and learned painting there before having to leave Austria in 1938 and emigrating to the USA. From 1973-2005, she was an extraordinary professor of art therapy at New York University, where she gained international recognition as a pioneer and “mother of art therapy.”
Elisabeth Saurugg enriches the Styrian art scene with impressive objects made of clay. These works arise without fixed intent, following an inner process. The ceramic body slowly unfolds, growing centimeter by centimeter into what it was always destined to become. The artist lives and creates her nature-inspired artworks in the midst of a picturesque walnut grove in Southeast Styria. She opens her studio to interested individuals to learn an artistic approach to clay.
