Kammerorchester Ernst Friessnegg
Into the new year with momentum
New Year's Concert
With vigor, elegance, and an outstanding lineup, the Ernst Friessnegg Chamber Orchestra opens the cultural year with a diverse and atmospheric program. As in every New Year's concert, the emphasis this time is also on the waltz: The waltz – a reflection of social changes and a symbol of Austrian identity – invites you to wholly immerse yourself in this special musical atmosphere.
We are pleased to announce the special guest mezzo-soprano Neira Music. In the 2025/26 season, she will be featured at the Graz Opera, among other roles, as Maddalena in Rigoletto, Margret in Wozzeck, Bonita in Arizona Lady, and as Annina in The Rosenkavalier.
The chamber orchestra is conducted by its founder Ernst Friessnegg, long-time concertmaster of the Graz Philharmonic Orchestra (1978–2016). In addition to his work in renowned chamber music groups – including the Graz String Trio – he shaped the musical life with numerous concert tours and radio recordings far beyond the region. His repertoire encompasses works from classical to modern.
