Moderner Klapotetz

Leutschach an der Weinstraße

This Klapotetz at the Kollerhof in southern Styria is really something special.

A Klapotetz is a traditional southern Styrian scarecrow that was originally developed to deter birds from the wine by rattling. It usually consists of a large wooden frame with a propeller that turns in the wind and makes a rattling noise.
However, the Klapotetz at the Kollerhof is a more modern, artistic interpretation of this traditional device. Instead of being merely functional, it has become a kind of work of art. The Kollerhof is located in a beautiful wine region, and the modern version of the Klapotetz symbolizes the bridge between tradition and modernity in Styrian wine culture.
