Sölker marble

Naturpark Sölktäler

The greeks called him the "Stone of gods"

Sölk Marble
Referred to by the ancient Greeks as the "stone of the gods," the name expresses awe at its beauty. The color nuances, ranging from white to pink to green and gray, each slightly different, make each piece of Sölk marble unique.

Beautiful natural marble erosion was created in the Strub Gorge, where the Großsölk and Kleinsölk streams converge. Over the millennia, the Sölk stream has carved its way through the Sölk marble.

A hike through the Strub Gorge near Großsölk Castle takes you to the confluence of the Großsölk and Kleinsölk streams, where the two streams have carved their way through the marble. The Sölk Marble Factory also opens its doors and provides interesting insights into marble processing. The showroom right next to the marble factory demonstrates the many different ways in which marble can be used.
