Gemeinde Mitterberg-Sankt Martin

Gröbminger Land

On 1 January 2015, the merger of the former municipalities of Mitterberg and Sankt Martin am Grimming created the new municipality of MITTERBERG-SANKT MARTIN. The sunny Mitterberg plateau, also known as the pearl of the Ennstal valley, and the Grimming, Europe's highest free-standing mountain with the picturesque mountain village of St. Martin, characterise the landscape of the municipality of Mitterberg-Sankt Martin. Municipal coat of arms: By resolution of the Styrian provincial government on 4 February 2016, the municipality of Mitterberg-Sankt Martin was granted the right to bear a municipal coat of arms from 15 February 2016. The coat of arms shows the former municipality of Mitterberg on the left and the former municipality of St. Martin am Grimming on the right. In the upper part of the coat of arms, the tricorn hat represents the Grimming mountain in heraldic terms. The blue lily in the silver spandrel on the left symbolises the Maria im Griebl chapel (Kaindorf). The silver tip in black comes from the coat of arms of the Payr zu Gstatt family. The sword in the middle and the red background on the right side of the coat of arms symbolise St. Martin. The two diamonds in the upper right half originate from the Admont Abbey coat of arms. The cadastral communities of Diemlern and St. Martin were subject to taxation by Admont Abbey. The golden kettle handle on the lower right side of the coat of arms originates from the coat of arms of Göß Abbey. The cadastral community of Lengdorf was subject to Göß Abbey.
