The Vertical Race of the Austrian Championship in Ski Mountaineering is a pure ascent race and mainly takes place on groomed slopes. The start is at the valley station of the Galsterbergalm cable car, and the finish is located near the Galsterbergalm hut. Eligibility To participate in the Austrian Championship, athletes must hold Austrian citizenship and be actively registered with a member club of the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV). Foreign runners and non-ÖSV members will appear in the overall ranking but are excluded from the ÖM ranking.

Class Division: U14: 2012 and younger (short distance) U16: 2010–2011 (short distance) U18: 2009–2008 U20: 2007–2006 Seniors: 2005–1981 Masters: 1980 and older Distances Long Distance (Start at Valley Station): Junior male/female, Senior male/female, Master male/female 3.6 km | 670 m elevation gain Short Distance (Start mid-descent): Student male/female 2 km | 350 m elevation gain
