Mill advent in Ramsau am Dachstein

The Mill Advent in Ramsau am Dachstein has long been an established date in the Advent season and delights every year with a new theme.

Starting from the restored Old Mill in Rössing, the decorated and atmospherically illuminated path leads over the Hofrat-Gruber-Weg and the idyllic Philosopher's Path, past the former sites of the historical Ramsauer water mills, to the rustic woodland tavern in Ramsau Ort.

Along the way, visitors can expect traditional craftsmanship, musical sounds, and the popular farm bread made from regional grain. Numerous stations tell stories about the cow – whether as a reliable helper in the fields or as an important supplier of milk and meat. Of course, culinary delights are also not to be missed: with hearty treats and the delicious specialties of the woodland tavern, the Advent walk becomes a culinary experience.

Sleigh Ride
Cuddled comfortably in a warm blanket, the horses trot with flowing manes and snorting nostrils through the winter landscape with you.

Old Mill Rössing
From 15:30, the Old Mill opens its doors and invites you to enjoy atmospheric hours in a special ambiance. Enjoy warming drinks, freshly baked bread, damson slices, and the popular “Mill Mice” from the farm bakery. The flour is ground on-site in Ramsau am Dachstein using the millstones that could be purchased thanks to support from past Mill Advent events. 

Mill Stüberl
After the first short hike from the Old Mill, you will find the first stop with hot drinks, homemade cookies, and a cozy atmosphere next to the rushing stream. 

The Mill Wheel House
At the end of Hofrat-Gruber-Weg, the Mill Wheel House invites you to take a break with warming drinks and a small snack.
The total proceeds will be donated to the Schladming Brothers' Keeper.

Catholic Church Kulm
Starting at 17:00, the traditional tower blowing in the church will solemnly prepare you for the Christmas season.
Hot drinks, sweets, and a festive atmosphere await you in the parish yard.

Old Cooper's House
Next, we continue to the Old Cooper's House by the blacksmith's shop.
The traditional donuts of the Ramsau farmers as well as hot drinks invite you to sit down on the upper floor.
The proceeds will go towards the maintenance of the mill.

Advent Stüberl at the Philosopher's Path
The lovingly crafted items from the Ramsau elementary school invite you to admire them. A stop is definitely worthwhile!

Evangelical Church

All visitors of the Mill Advent are warmly invited to celebrate this atmospheric conclusion of the day.

Woodland Tavern
Whether as a starting point or as a conclusion to the hike – the Woodland Tavern will take good care of your physical well-being starting at 11:30.
Here you will find the lovingly and carefully decorated Christmas tree from the kindergarten.
A cozy supporting program additionally ensures an atmospheric environment.

The winter hiking path is illuminated until 22:00!

Please note that the path from the Old Mill to the Mill Wheel House can be very slippery in places and is therefore only suitable for good walkers. Sturdy footwear and a headlamp are recommended; walking is at your own risk.
