At just 21 years old, Herbert Schmidhofer was awarded as the youngest toque chef in Austria. Today, he looks back on more than three decades of professional experience and is among the established head chefs in the country. In 2016, "Schmidhofer im Palais" opened with him as the head chef and namesake; three years later, he and his wife Birgit took over the restaurant on their own. It is located in the historic Palais Herberstein on Sackstraße, whose architecture provides the framework for a modern gastronomic concept.
Schmidhofer represents a cuisine that combines international influences with traditional elements. Creative combinations arise from fresh ingredients and artisanal skills, complemented by a carefully curated wine selection. In summer, the terrace in the inner courtyard invites guests to dine outdoors, while the dining areas, with their blend of historic charm and contemporary design, create a special atmosphere.
