The art and culture trail in Bärnbach is an open-air experience that impressively combines art and the urban landscape. The starting point is the prominent bucket-wheel excavator, a symbol of the region's industrial transformation. From here, a path of about 1 kilometer leads past 19 art and culture objects, accompanied by information panels and QR codes that provide exciting background information.
The highlight of the trail is the St. Barbara Church, a colorful total work of art by Friedensreich Hundertwasser, known far beyond the region for its symbol-rich design. Not far away, Ernst Fuchs' Moses Fountain impresses with intricate mythological language and expressive form.
Wall designs by Friedrich Ehrbar, Gottfried Fabian, Alfred Schlosser, Robert Zeppel-Sperl, and Franz Weiß turn house facades into art spaces. A silent, powerful symbol is set by the guesthouse Kosir, symbolically chained in the project "ad acta" by artist Gustav Troger, a monument of forgetfulness in the midst of everyday life.
The art and culture trail is freely accessible and combines artistic diversity with regional history – an inspiring walk for anyone who wants to dive into the cultural identity of Bärnbach in a special way.
