Murinsel Café

The Murinsel Café is located in the middle of the Mur River, making it one of the most extraordinary places in Graz to take a break. Under the glass dome of this floating structure, guests meet for a coffee, a glass of wine, or a small snack, with a direct view of the water. Inside, blue seating, light decor, and a clear view of the sky create a special atmosphere. In nice weather, the terrace offers additional outdoor seating to experience the river and city life from a unique perspective.

The Murinsel was created in 2003 for the European Capital of Culture year. Designed by New York artist Vito Acconci, it now connects both banks of the city and has long become an urban landmark in its own right. In addition to the café, there is a small amphitheater on the platform as well as a play area for children. At the same time, the Murinsel has developed into a cultural event venue. Formats like Summer Movies are part of the program, as well as concerts and readings. The modern event technology provides the framework for special evenings – between the city, water, and architecture.
