For those who love the rustic and original aspects of pilgrimage and hiking, and wish to stop or even spend the night in a rustic shelter, the Mühlbacher Hütte is highly recommended. Here, you won't find hot water, but you'll encounter many relaxed faces, an incredible panorama, tasty cocktails, and meals prepared by the wood stove – just like in the days of the old pilgrims.
The Mühlbacher Hütte, located at about 996 meters above sea level on the Mühlbachkogel, is open from May 1st to October 26th on weekends and public holidays, and is only accessible on foot. Outside of opening hours, a shelter with drinks is available. Besides enjoying the scenic beer garden, you can also savor pot strudel, roast pork, and other homemade delicacies in the cozy dining room.

Tip for getting there:
Take the Flux shared taxi from Gratwein train station to Hörgasbauer, and from there, take the scenic Kaschlsteig trail to the hut. If fewer elevation changes are desired, the Mühlbacher Hütte can also be reached from Plesch. The descent can then be made via the same route or past Stift Rein.
