Fountain for women in Geistthal
Geistthal-Södingberg
A quiet place of remembrance with impressive symbolism and a moving history.
The Women's Fountain in Geistthal is a unique monument to female history and memory culture. Erected in 2003 by the West Styrian artist Alfred Schlosser, it commemorates Martha Mosegger, who was executed as a witch in the 17th century. Twelve colored glazed sculptures depict significant female figures in local traditional costumes and address themes of oppression, healing arts, and inner strength. The fountain made of regional stone combines art, history, and symbolism into a quiet memorial. Located in the town center and embedded in an idyllic green space, it serves as a special place for pausing away from classic sights in Western Styria.
