Yodellers from around the world ‘Sobering yodelling’
Detox yodeling with Ingrid Hammer, a global yodel mix for curious voices.
Detox yodeling with Ingrid Hammer invites you on an unusual yet heartfelt sound journey in Graz. On Thursday, January 2, 2026, Ingrid Hammer will guide interested participants through a mix of yodeling techniques from around the world at the Styrian Adult Education Center. From the fjords of Scandinavia to the mountains of Georgia, to rhythms from Africa and voices from America. The course is aimed at anyone who enjoys singing and experimenting. Previous experience in yodeling is welcome, but not required.
In the workshop, we will jointly try out simple yodeling patterns, sound figures, and vocal arcs. The exploration of the voice is central: curious, open, without pressure to perform. The shared experimentation creates a lively sound field where every voice has space. Some sequences invite you to play with your own ideas and improvise spontaneously.
Participation costs € 40.00 for members, and € 50.00 regular price. Registration through the Styrian Folk Song Association. The small group fosters exchange and community – ideal for people who want to discover how familiar yet new yodeling can sound.
