Stern-Thaler carnival parade
Colorful masks, music, and fantasy: Carnival festivities with a parade through Thal
On February 14, 2026, Thal will become a carnival stronghold! By noon, the marketplace fills up; there is the first refreshment at the sausage party, hearty and in high spirits.
Then it begins: With music, drumrolls, and colorful costumes, the jolly procession sets off. From the town center, imaginatively disguised groups, floats, and musicians march over “Carefully Living in Unterthal” to the Thalerei. Along the way, there is waving, laughter, and joking – because carnival in Styria thrives on togetherness.
The route is manageable and easily accessible, perfect for families with children who want to participate in costumes or cheer from the sidelines. In the Thalerei, the crowning finale awaits: a carnival party with music, dance, and lots of fun. What matters is a good atmosphere and a little courage to dress up. Typical for the Graz Region: Here, not just spectators watch; here, everyone celebrates together, down-to-earth and heartfelt. And those familiar with rural Thal know: The carnival does not come from above – but directly from the heart of the people.
Entry is free, and the joy is immense. Just come, join the celebration, and experience carnival in its finest form.
