Recreation - The Four Elements

What happens when fire, water, air, and earth meet musically? In this concert, two very different perspectives on the four elements come together: the expressive tonal language of the French Baroque encounters the emotional sound world of modern film music. At the center is the work "Les Élémens" by Jean-Féry Rebel, a ballet suite from 1737, in which musical chaos, natural forces, and harmonious order are depicted in a fascinating way. Particularly famous: the beginning, a single dissonance storm that is still considered a musical gamble today.

In contrast stands Rachel Portman's Violin Concerto "Tipping Points". It tells, in sensitive sound images, about the balance of nature – and how easily it can tip. Alexandra Tirsu impressively brings each of these moods to life with her violin.

Recreation, the orchestra conducted by Ingmar Beck connects both works for an impressive evening that makes the theme "Elements" tangible on two temporal levels. A concert event with a strong connection to nature and the cultural diversity of the Graz experience region in Styria.

The concert will take place on Monday, June 8, 2026, in two performances: at 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM. A short introduction by director Mathis Huber begins 20 minutes before the concert starts, allowing the audience to tune into the experience.
