Recreation - Oboe Magic
Oboes in Ensemble: Recreation and Alfredo Bernardini celebrate baroque sound elegance
When three oboes sing together, a sound emerges that goes straight to the heart. On May 4th and 5th, 2026, the orchestra Recreation, conducted by Alfredo Bernardini, will bring this magic to the Minoritensaal Graz. With works specifically written for this special instrumentation. The internationally celebrated oboist and specialist in historical performance practice will gather baroque masterpieces from Vienna, Eisenach, and Zerbst.
The program begins with an overture by the Styrian court conductor Johann Joseph Fux, followed by Bach's Concerto for Oboe d'amore, which touches the listener with its tranquility and elegance. Telemann’s colorful Concerto for three Oboes and three Violins unfolds lively dialogues, while Fasch’s overture with bassoon and strings showcases the sonic depth of baroque ensemble music.
The Minoritensaal in Graz provides an ideal setting for these sensitive works with its acoustic. Those who experience Alfredo Bernardini know: the baroque oboe is more than an instrument; it tells stories. An evening full of rare timbres and stylish elegance in the Graz Region.
