Organ concert at the end of the year
Organ concert in the Dom Graz featuring works by Bach, Franck, Widor – a musical end of the year.
On December 29, the Graz Cathedral in Styria invites you to a festive organ concert to celebrate the year's end. In the impressive atmosphere of this historic church space, works by Johann Sebastian Bach, César Franck, Louis Vierne, and Charles M. Widor – renowned composers of the organ music tradition – will resonate. The sound of the grand cathedral organ traverses musical styles from Baroque to French Romanticism, embedded in the calm rhythm of the late season. The evening begins at 8:00 PM.
The admission fee is €20.00 (at the box office), €15.00 in advance at the information office at Herrengasse 16.
This concert offers a pleasant opportunity to conclude the year with music, to take time for sound and space, and to direct the gaze towards what is to come in the silent splendor of the cathedral. Those who have experienced the sound of the organ in the cathedral know its special effect. Especially in the reflection of daylight and the sacred architecture of Graz.
A tip: arrive early and secure a spot in the main area; the acoustics in the cathedral reward attention and silence. Welcome to the Graz Region for a musically profound year-end celebration.
