Koralmbahn opening ceremony

On Friday, December 12, 2025, the ceremonial opening celebration of the Koralmbahn will take place at the main train station in Graz. The new connection brings southern Austria closer together, a milestone for mobility in Styria and beyond. A stage is being set up directly in front of the main train station in Graz for this special occasion.

In addition to the official opening program from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, the event will offer a colorful entertainment and experience program between 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM, including insights into the construction of the Koralmbahn, regional contributions, and a mix of activities for young and old. Starting from 3:00 PM, a live music program will begin featuring well-known Austrian acts – along with regional culinary offerings and the opportunity to experience the new route on a special train.

The celebration underscores the role of the region as a growth engine: In the Graz Region, the Koralmbahn not only connects cities but also creates space for new mobility and experiences. Guests can use special trains between Graz and Klagenfurt hourly starting at 2:30 PM and experience the new route in about 41 minutes. 

With a view towards Styria and the city of Graz, this event illustrates that mobility, regional development, and community can be brought into harmony – a project with substance and a future.
