Guided hike: Krautwasch - Walzkogel circular hike

Extensive hikes and impressive mountain landscapes in the Gleinalm area are among the most beautiful mountain experiences in the Graz region.

From the former Alpine guesthouse Krautwasch, we take diverse paths to Walzkogel with its summit cross (1456 m), from where we enjoy a fantastic view from the Gleinalpe over the state capital Graz to East Styria. The trail continues along little-used paths to the rustic Walzkogelhütte, where we take a pleasant break before hiking back to Krautwasch.   

Meeting point: 08:15 AM, Übelbach Train Station

Trail length: 12 km | Ascent 480 m | Walking time approx. 4:30 hours

Duration of the hike until approx. 4:00 PM, with planned break at Walzkogelhütte, and shared return transfer with shuttle taxi to Übelbach Train Station (included)  

Arrival by public transport: by S-Bahn S1 and S11 Graz – Peggau - Übelbach, transfer with shuttle taxi to Krautwasch and back to Übelbach (included), return from Übelbach individually (otherwise with flux.at to Peggau, not included)

Difficulty level: Mountain hike without special requirements, stamina for approx. 4.5 hours and 500 meters of ascent required

Equipment: Good hiking/mountain shoes required, hiking/sports clothing (layering principle), backpack, rain and sun protection, possibly hiking poles, hat & gloves depending on weather conditions, drink, snack

Cost: € 15.00 per person, payable on-site to the guide

The guided hike is organized by the Graz Region Tourism Association in collaboration with the hiking guides. Please note that last-minute changes may be possible. Participation is at your own risk.
For safety and organizational reasons, bringing dogs is not allowed!
