Graz tells its story: art installation

Graz Tells 2026 brings a sound and light installation to Mariahilferplatz in the center of Graz! Styria experiences voices and projections that make everyday life and memory newly tangible through sound images. From May 6 to 25, 2026, acoustic spaces will open, reflecting conversations, poems, and sounds from the city .

Memories blend with the sound of the present, bringing small narrative fragments to life, making Mariahilferplatz a place of conversation and perception in the midst of the vibrant city. A special focus is placed on the transformation of everyday traces into artistic sounds and colors in the space. Narratives from many neighborhoods of the city come together here, opening a space for new thoughts in the Graz of today and yesteryear. The artistic direction has selected places that often go unnoticed in everyday life but have much to tell. In quiet moments, sounds, texts, and excerpts from conversations that otherwise fade away in daily life unfold. The artistic diversity of this project showcases the liveliness and depth of urban narrative layers. This artistic offering at Mariahilferplatz opens the view of Graz as a place with voices and history.
