Exhibition: ‘Time Travellers’
Hans Giegerl and companions: Art in color, shape, and depth at the Kunsthaus Köflach.
For the opening on November 14 at 7:00 PM (doors open at 6:50 PM), Mayor Mag. Helmut Linhart & Mag. Christian Buchmann will welcome you, with music by Wolfgang Grinschgl
In the heart of Styria, the Kunsthaus Köflach becomes a stage for the work of regional artist Hans Giegerl. On the occasion of his 80th birthday, the exhibition “TIME TRAVELER” will show a multifaceted engagement with form, color, and memory from November 14, 2025, to January 10, 2026.
Giegerl, born in Köflach, looks back on decades of artistic development – from figurative beginnings to meditative works that move between light and shadow. In his “last” phase, he reflects on return, homecoming, and transience – large-scale sunsets as a metaphor for life cycles.
The exhibition connects his work with that of two female artists: Monika Barwig experiments with unconventional materials and figurative faces, while Elisabeth Raunig introduces sculptures from her travels – small or life-sized, fragile and strong at the same time.
The accompanying program opens doors to encounters: On Saturday, November 15, at 11:00 AM, there will be a guided tour of the exhibition. On Friday, November 28, starting at 2:00 PM, there will be an art workshop for children and adults with Monika Barwig.
The Kunsthaus at Bahnhofstraße 6 in 8580 Köflach not only offers works for viewing – it invites reflection and co-creation. As an authentic location in the Graz Region, it shows how art is regionally anchored while also transcending time.
