On Saturday, December 20, an Advent Vespers will take place in the Graz Cathedral, a quiet moment in the lead-up to the Christmas celebration. In the contemplatively decorated cathedral in the heart of Graz, organ music, choral singing, and a communal prayer service resound. The Vespers provide space for pause, preparation for the festival, and community. The atmosphere in the historic church space, with its high vaults, the soft sound of the organ, and the candlelight – reminds how Advent in the Graz Region can also be experienced inside a church.
The celebration especially invites one to take a moment to interrupt everyday life: voices join in praising God, the light reflects in the old stained glass windows, and anyone who wishes can participate in the intercessory prayer. By the way – afterwards, there is an opportunity for cozy exchange over tea in the foyer. The Advent Vespers in the cathedral is open to all who would like to experience Advent in a simple and honest way, whether as a city resident, guest, or visitor to the region.
