SkillThe tour in numbers
Instead of a trip to Rome, why not try the “Chapel Tour” over seven hills around Eggersdorf bei Graz? This route delights both sporty touring cyclists and culture-loving bike hikers. Leisurely riders will also enjoy the many scenic rest and picnic spots in nature, as well as the regional specialties offered at traditional inns and rustic wine taverns.
The cycling and hiking trail begins at the weir system and ends at the parish church in the center of Eggersdorf bei Graz. Along the way, the tour passes 11 chapels, 14 shrines, and 22 roadside crosses – inviting cyclists and walkers to pause and rediscover these historical monuments and expressions of local religious tradition.
Thanks to careful restoration by skilled professionals in cooperation with the Federal Monuments Office, these often artistically designed cultural treasures now shine in new splendor.
The 44 km-long tour features informative signage, which also points out culinary stops and regional farm shops. Along the route, beautifully maintained rest areas invite you to enjoy a relaxed picnic in the open air.
Some local businesses in Eggersdorf even offer a special picnic service: on request, they prepare baskets filled with regional delicacies and specialties – ready and waiting for guests to enjoy.
