Follow the journey of our gingerbread from beginning to end.
Stroll through the glass visitor walkway and peek over the shoulders of our gingerbread bakers from there.
The new erLebzelterei presents traditional craftsmanship in a modern design.
On more than 3,500 square meters of exhibition space, the time-honored art of gingerbread baking is showcased, from mixing and rolling the honey dough to filling, topping, and decorating.
The glass visitor walkway
150m away from the basilica towards the cable car, every Mariazell visitor will find a new attraction, the large gingerbread demonstration baking room. Visits are possible daily except Sundays and public holidays without prior registration and showcase the artisanal production of gingerbread in all production steps. Creative gingerbread bakers label colorful gingerbread hearts, embellish them with flowers or company logos, and create true works of art with icing.
Be there from A to Z
From cracking the eggs to assembling the varieties in packaging, you will observe every step of the production process. You will see how Pirkers' delicacies are made at workstations, depending on the type of production. Supported by state-of-the-art technology, more than 60 different varieties of gingerbread are produced "live" behind glass. An experience for the whole family.

The transparency in our gingerbread production is unique. The glass erLebzelterei is certified IFS according to strict hygiene regulations. This allows us to meet the highest quality and hygiene standards and to count among the select circle of 400 certified companies in Austria.
