The yellow marked Steinmühle-Runde leads in the west of the village of Seckau via the Kunstweg to the Steinmühle Inn. A good mix of asphalt sections and near-natural trails in the Murtal adventure region in Styria.

A hike for the whole family with the highlight of the art trail.

The art trail is a project initiated by Seckau artist Heribert Nothnagel. Heribert Nothnagel was born in Seckau, attended the local abbey school, and graduated from the Ortwein School under Alexander Silveira, then studied sculpture with Fritz Wotruba at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. He was an excellent teacher, working at the Abteigymnasium Seckau from 1973 and at the Ortweinschule from 1980 to 2008. He had a significant influence on a number of internationally renowned artists. The extension of the art trail was implemented in 2008 in collaboration with students from the Ortweinschule. For reasons of durability, stone was chosen as the main material. Metal and plastic were also used. The theme for the artists was “THE PLASTIC FRAGMENT.” As works of art in a natural space, they are exposed to environmental influences, which also leave their mark on the works and reflect the omnipresent transience of life.

At the end of the art trail, you reach the Steinmühle inn, a popular excursion destination in the Murtal Styria adventure region.

From St. Michael in Upper Styria via the Murtal expressway S36 (subject to vignette) to the exit "St. Lorenzen"; continue in the direction of Knittelfeld via Kobenz to Seckau. (27 km, approx. 20 minutes).

From Judenburg via the Murtal expressway S36 (vignette required) to the exit "Knittelfeld-Ost"; continue via Kobenz to Seckau. (30 km, approx. 25 minutes).

Stop at the pastry shop Regner directly in the village of Seckau, which we pass directly at the end of the hike.

The village of Seckau can be reached by bus. The nearest train station is in Knittelfeld.
