Renewable Energy Community in Fohnsdorf Sharing electricity together – regionally, sustainably and affordably The energy transition begins right on your doorstep – in your own community, with your own neighbours. The Renewable Energy Community (EEG) is a non-profit association that enables locally generated electricity to be used collectively, thus actively contributing to a sustainable energy future. Who can participate in energy communities? Anyone can participate: private households – whether homeowners or tenants – small and medium-sized enterprises, and public authorities. Energy communities give everyone the opportunity to actively participate in the energy transition, jointly generate and share renewable energy, and benefit economically from it. Best of all, existing electricity contracts remain unchanged and membership is free of charge. Save money and benefit the region There are many advantages to becoming a member: your own electricity becomes cheaper – and at the same time, more added value remains in the region. As locally generated electricity is given priority, energy costs are noticeably reduced. In addition, reduced grid fees and lower taxes and levies apply to this electricity.
