The Styrian State Youth Choir Cantanima was founded in 2004 by the Styrian Choir Association and brings together enthusiastic and particularly talented young people between the ages of 16 and 26 from all over the province. Under the direction of Sebastian Meixner, the choir presents challenging literature ranging from classical masterpieces to modern world premieres, with precise elaboration and great tonal balance, but above all, in keeping with the choir's name, “sung with soul.” Numerous international awards testify to the high standard of this exceptional ensemble, which most recently received several awards in Prague in 2024. For Mother's Day 2026, Cantanima offers a colorful program ranging from sacred choral music by great composers to exciting contemporary works and pop and gospel arrangements.
