The ascent of the challenging Kleiner Hansl tour is possible all year round. The view at the summit cross is breathtaking.

In the Pölstal, we are particularly concerned about the preservation of unspoiled nature. So that the pleasure of the people does not become a problem for wild animals and nature, it requires consideration measures. 

For the sake of nature and the environment, correct behavior in the mountains is the top priority for the hiking enthusiast.

- Use the designated parking areas

- Do not block access roads and please respect local driving regulations

- Observe information boards at the starting points and stick to the recommended marked routes

- Avoid approaching wildlife

More information

From Vienna (approx. 3 hours):

  1. Take the A2 towards Graz.

  2. At 161-St. Michael junction, switch to the S36 towards Judenburg.

  3. Exit at Judenburg-Ost.

  4. Continue on the B114 towards Trieben/Hohentauern.

  5. At Pöls-Oberkurzheim, turn right onto the B113 towards Pusterwald.

  6. Drive through the village of Pusterwald.

  7. Continue up the valley to the Scharnitz/Kohler car park (signposted, located at the valley head).

From Graz (approx. 1.5 hours):

  1. Take the A9 towards Linz/Salzburg.

  2. At 161-St. Michael junction, change to the S36 towards Judenburg.

  3. Exit at Judenburg-Ost.

  4. Drive along the B114 towards Trieben/Hohentauern.

  5. At Pöls-Oberkurzheim, turn onto the B113 towards Pusterwald.

  6. Continue through the village and further up the valley to the Scharnitz/Kohler car park.

From Salzburg (approx. 3 hours):

  1. Take the A10 towards Villach.

  2. At exit 63-Altenmarkt, change to the B320 towards Radstadt/Schladming.

  3. Continue via Schladming to Liezen.

  4. Join the A9 towards Graz.

  5. Exit at 100-Trieben.

  6. Drive on the B114 towards Judenburg.

  7. At Pöls-Oberkurzheim, turn left onto the B113 towards Pusterwald.

  8. Pass through Pusterwald and continue up the valley to the Scharnitz/Kohler car park.

From the parking lot Scharnitzkohler along the forest road past the hunting lodge, the summer trail to the Wildalmhütte. Follow the summer path westward into the large cirque floor. From this directly or keeping slightly to the right over a ridge to the summit.
Refreshment stops: In the village GH Jagawirt (MO day off).

Enjoy the magnificent view over the Pölstal region while having a cup of tea at the summit cross. Breathtaking mountains, fresh air and untouched nature away from mass tourism.

Unfortunately, this tour cannot be reached by public transport.

  • Recommendation: Travel by car or organize a carpool.
