The Grat Zirbitzkogel circuit is best walked clockwise, divided into two days. In addition to beautiful landscape contracts, the panorama over Niedere and Hohe Tauern, Julian Alps, Karawanken and Steiner Alps is inspiring.
This hike is a strenous tour in the mountains for several days. In this regard, here you need a certain coordination and endurance for these days. However, once you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with an excellent and picturesque parnoramic view.

Coming from Judenburg via Unzmarkt to Scheifling. Here turn right in the direction of Murau. In Teufenbach keep left and drive via Mariahof to Neumarkt. Here again keep left and drive via Mühlen to Tonnerhütte.

Coming from Tamsweg via Ranten (or Stadl an der Mur) to Murau. Keep right here and drive via Laßnitz, St. Lambrecht and Mariahof to Neumarkt. Here again keep left and drive via Mühlen to the Tonnerhütte.

Day 1: From the Tonnerhütte, the trail leads to the timberline and over a stone wall to the ridge crest in the direction of Scharfes Eck, from where it continues to the Ochsenbodenhöhe. From there you continue uphill to the Kreiskogel.

The descent takes places via the Großer Winterleitensee and the Winterleitenhütte. Continue through rustic alder terrain, through the Swiss pine forest to the Almrauschhütte and the Sabathyhütte.

Day 2: Across a shallow ditch, the trail leads downhill via the Rothaidenhütte to the Türkenkreuz. The pilgrams' path continues to the Wildsee and uphill to the Fuchskogel. Continue to the Helmut-Erd-Schutzhaus, where you can fortify yourself. A Murtal view from the Lavanthöhe follows, then the trail leads us further downhill to the tree line and finally to the slopw at the Tonnerhütte.
