Wintersperre Sölkpass
Styria - Salzburg - Carinthia! Discover a dreamlike combination of curves, free driving feeling and endless freedom.
The tour leads from Spielberg in the adventure region murtal over the Lachtal valley to Schöder, where we ride the rarely opened Sölkpass with its great mountain curves. We continue to Ramsau where we have a great view of the highest mountain in Styria, the Dachstein. We continue to Filzmoos and Radstadt, where we are now in the Salzburger Land. The Tauernpass and the Twenger Talpass are other fantastic pass roads as well as ski areas in winter. We pass Tamsweg in Lungau until we come back to Styria in the direction of Murau. There we already see the castle Schwarzenberg and have the possibility to visit the brewery of the senses with the beer pharmacy. At Murau we turn in the direction of the Metnitz valley to the castle town of Friesach. Here we can experience how a castle is built without any tools. The process of building, without the help of modern equipment. Only through the traditional craftsmanship of the people involved, supported by strong Noriker horses, a castle complex with two towers, a palace, curtain walls and a chapel is built in a construction period of about 40 years. On the main square in Friesach is the Cafe Craigher with its high-quality chocolate production, here we have the possibility of a guided tour with tasting. Strengthened we drive over the winding Perchauer Sattel back to the Murtal to the Red Bull Ring, where we can experience a 90-minute sightseeing tour (reservation required), which is normally closed to visitors.
