“The expansive one": Experience a long high-altitude hike with a leisurely ascent and descent at an average altitude of 1500 meters above sea level. Enjoy the view from the Gaberl, the wind turbines and the Steinplan refuge.

High-altitude hike from Gaberlhaus to Steinplan - beautiful alpine pasture hike, partly wooded and meadows in the Murtal adventure region. Attention: Here you will find a parking lot where you have to pay a fee.

From St. Michael in Upper Styria via the Murtal expressway S36 (vignette required) to the exit "Zeltweg-Ost" and further Möbersdorf and the B77 to the starting point (50 km, approx. 45 minutes).

From Graz via the B70 to Köflach and B77 to the starting point (64 km, approx. 75 minutes).

The first waypoint is a shrine at 1574 m, then it goes slightly downhill until we see the entrance to the forest on the right. Paths and forest roads alternate, at the crossroads "Sattelhaus/Steinplan" we continue to the left. Shortly after the Krennsattel, the path climbs continuously until we reach the Steinplan (1670m) with the nearby refuge. After a break at the Steinplan, we go back to the Gaberl well strengthened.

From May to June, the stemless gentian blooms on the open alpine pastures.

There is no public transport connection to the starting point of the tour itself.
