The gorge in St. Lambrecht, designated a natural monument, is only a few minutes' walk from the monastery. Formed during the Ice Age, it is now an ecological gem with unique rock formations and plant species.

 A short but adventurous hike along the stream and past caves. Especially on warm summer days, you can find pleasant refreshment here. At the end, we are rewarded with a fantastic view of St. Lambrecht and the monastery.

By car from Germany
From Munich via the A8 towards Salzburg. From Salzburg, take the A10 Tauern Autobahn to St. Michael im Lungau. Take the B 96 to Tamsweg, then continue on the B 95 to Predlitz. The
B 97 leads via Stadl/Mur to Murau. At the roundabout, continue to Murau train station and on via Laßnitz bei Murau to St. Lambrecht. After the monastery walls, turn left to the swimming pool parking lot.

Arriving from eastern Austria/Hungary
At the motorway junction in St. Michael near Leoben, take the S 36 towards Klagenfurt. Pass
Knittelfeld and Judenburg to Scheifling. In Scheifling, continue towards Klagenfurt to Neumarkt in der Steiermark, via Unzmarkt and Perchau am Sattel. In Neumarkt, turn right towards Mariahof and St. Lambrecht. In Mariahof, turn left after the railroad crossing towards St. Lambrecht. After the town sign in St. Lambrecht, turn right towards the swimming pool parking lot.

Arriving from southern Austria/Italy
Via Klagenfurt on the S 37, pass St. Veit/Glan, Treibach, and Friesach. In Friesach, continue
towards Vienna, via Dürnstein and Wildbad to Neumarkt. After the town center of Neumarkt, turn left towards Mariahof and St. Lambrecht. In Mariahof, turn left after the railroad crossing towards St. Lambrecht. After the town sign in St. Lambrecht, turn right to the swimming pool parking lot.
The starting point is the swimming pool parking lot. From here, we walk about 40 m east, where the entrance to the gorge is located. From here, we follow the footbridges and stairs until we reach a meadow at the end, from where we can enjoy the beautiful view of St. Lambrecht and the monastery. The return trip is along the same route we took on the way there.
