New Year's Concert by the Vienna Youth Philharmonic Orchestra: Carmen and Love
Every year a new original program – this is how the Junge Philharmonie Wien, under its conductor Michael Lessky, has presented itself in symphonic form at the New Year's concert for almost two decades in the Styrian community in the district of Murau. On January 3, 2026, at 5 PM in the Greimhalle, the focus this time is on the southern, fiery music from G. Bizet's opera "Carmen": composed exactly 150 years ago, and at the heart of the Salzburg Festival in 2026, this program comes at just the right time. The Croatian alto Martina Mikelic will be featured as the soloist.
The Junge Philharmonie Wien is the national youth orchestra of Austria, whose Styrian members are supported with scholarships from the state of Styria.
